Tissot was founded by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile in 1853, in Le Locle, Switzerland. They introduced their very first pocket watch the same year, with two times zones. In 1929 the brand unveiled the first anti-magnetic watch. During the 1970s and the 1980s, Tissot was famous for making unusual cases for watches. Tissot released a plastic watch in 1971, a granite RockWatch in 1985, a mother of pearl in 1987 (made of nacre) and a wood watch in 1988. The brand also launched the first tactile watch, the T-Touch in 1999 which quickly became an icon. This watch had a sensitive sapphire crystal to control functions like compass, barometer, altimeter and thermometer.
