The Maurice Lacroix Manufacture was founded in 1975 in Switzerland. In 1989 the brand purchased the case maker Queloz SA. The brand launched in 1992 the Cinq Aiguilles (five hands) watch which was a great success since it displayed the hours, minutes, seconds, date and the day of the week thanks to hands placed at the centre of the dial. In 1999 the brand introduced a Flyback Annuaire Chronograph which was able to record short time intervals with a yearly calendar and a large date display. The brand also unveiled the Masterpiece Retrograde Calendar the same year which featured a retrograde display and a power reserve. In 2002 the brand announced the Masterpiece Réveil Globe watch and the Masterpiece Chrono Globe. One year later Maurice Lacroix introduced the Masterpiece Double retrograde with an in-house bottom-plate. In 2006 the brand unveiled their very first in-house calibre the chronograph ML106 with manual winding. In 2017 the company revisited its past with two major pieces: the Masterpiece Double Retrograde and the Masterpiece Moon Retrograde.
