Pierre Jaquet-Droz was born in Switzerland in 1721. He established his first watch workshop in 1738. In 1758 he started to make androids whose names were: The Draftsman, The Writer, The Musician and the Grotto. The company was relaunched as Jaquet Droz during the 1990’s and in 2000 the brand became part of the Swatch Group. In 2003 the brand introduced four new watches “Les Lunes, Les douze Villes, Equation du Temps and Grande Seconde Numerus Clausus Décentrée” which proved that Jaquet Droz was still a great watchmaker producing complicated watches. One year later the brand unveiled a Tourbillon Répétition minutes and in 2005 the first Perpetual Calendar. In 2007 the brand unveiled the Grande Seconde Céramique émail which has become an icon of the brand. Today Jaquet Droz’s watches are mostly famous for their amazing dials like enamel or ceramic dials.
