VULCAIN
Vulcain was founded in 1858 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. At that time the brand was called the Manufacture Ditisheim frères. In 1898 the brand became the Fabrique Vulcain and in 1919 the brand created the New Vulcain factory. In 1947 Vulcain unveiled its most famous watch, the Cricket, the first alarm wristwatch with a chirping sound. The same year, the American president Eisenhower was spotted wearing a Vulcain cricket so the watch became the U.S. “President’s Watch”. In 1958 the brand launched the calibre 406 the Cricket Golden Voice, a model designed for women. Vulcain then announced their first nautical watch in 1961, the Nautical. In 2002 the brand was relocated in Le Locle and two years later, the V-11 Cricket calibre with a date was launched. The grande complication Imperial Gong, the first tourbillon alarm watch, was unveiled in 2005. More recently, Vulcain announced the V-21, the self-winding version of the Cricket calibre in 2010.
