The Triton Spirotechnique watch was designed in 1962 by Jean René Parmentier, a colonel in the French Air Force. Mr. Parmentier worked with Jacques Cousteau to design the best diver watch. At that time, the was had a 37mm case and oversized bezel numerals. This watch was immediately recognizable thanks to its crown at 12 o’clock. This singular design was created to avoid diving accidents caused by the winding crown. Recently, two French guys, Jean-Sébastien Coste and Philippe Friedmann, have decided to relaunch the brand with a tribute to the Triton Spirotechnique diver. The new automatic Swiss-made version, the Subphotique, features a 41mm case, Super Luminova on the dial, a 500 meter water-resistance and a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating.
