LOUIS MOINET

Louis Moinet was a French watchmaker which was known for being one of the inventor of the “chronograph complication”. He studied sculpture, painting and architecture and became a professor at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He also made clocks for famous people like Napoleon or Thomas Jefferson. Actually in 1815 he created a counter’s balance whose hand was center-mounted in order to measure intervals to 1/60 of a second. It was an outstanding innovation at that time in the world of watchmaking. Today Louis Moinet is an independent watch brand located in Switzerland which focuses on high-end timepieces with exotic materials. All of Louis Moinet’s watches are limited editions or unique pieces. The brand sells different versions of Tourbillon timepieces.
